Ward was born at MonroeLouisianaon 14 April1976. Monroe Christian School was her private Christian primary school. In her secondary educationWard was a student at Ouachita Parish High School, but she relocated into River Oaks High School on the following summer, after her junior year. She was part of the dance and drill teams. She attended Northeast Louisiana University briefly after graduation. Ward started modeling at the age of thirteen, leaving her school in order to relocate to New York. She decided to try acting in the following years. Her first role was uncredited in the 1970s on the soap opera All My Children. Later she was cast on the NBC's prime-time drama for teens, Malibu Shores. The soap for daytime Sunset Beach cast Ward as the young Meg Cummings in late 1996.
